6 months ago almost to the day I was hit by a motorbike in Greece. I have never experienced pain like that in my life and actually don’t know how my shin didn’t snap in half - maybe thanks to a few years of Muay Thai haha. . . I couldn’t run or swim for like 2 weeks... I was so upset but later realised I was SO lucky. People still always comment on the nasty scar it left, but I like it. I’m reminded of so many life lessons every time I look at it, my favourite being: take responsibility for your own happiness and move the f*ck on. I could’ve sat around, got fat, blamed everyone else and been miserable about it. I definitely did for a day. 😂 Then I realised that wasn’t making me feel any better, so instead I did every bit of extremely limited exercise I could, followed docs orders to heal as fast as possible (cheers @manosnizamis) and focussed on all the fun things I COULD do rather than how much it was setting me back. Happy national women in sports day! From a young age, I secretly always knew I wanted to be a professional athlete. But I was too shy/embarrassed to ever voice it cos I was never exceptionally good at anything. Then at 25 years old, I found boxing. . . Yeah I wish I started younger, but maybe what I went through before I started is the real training I needed to make me so driven and determined in accelerating to the top. Whatever.
